"The Protector" is a king sized bed made from one entire log from a Sugar Maple tree salvaged in Connecticut. I was fortunate enough to acquire an entire milled log and had to keep it together as a complete piece. Blending curves and the natural voids and cuts was of the upmost importance, as to honor this tree and the beauty within its grain. Not only did I want the piece to have impact, but to really feel like one was sleeping within the tree, completely immersed in it's spirit.
Symbolizing balance, love, longevity, and abundance, maple is the perfect wood to use in the bedroom; a place where one recharges after a long and strenuous day. "The Protector" does just that, balancing beauty and strength where one can collapse into and just be.
