Butternut, known by some as White Walnut, is an incredible native New England hardwood with a history as rich as the beautiful grain beneath the bark. Used traditionally for carving, Butternut was often the choice of craftsmen who hand-sculpted architectural elements in traditional New England buildings that line main streets in preserved communities. While not as common as other hardwood species, Butternut is an incredibly beautiful timber that comes to life in any home.

All of my boards come pre-finished in FDA certified food safe oil and beeswax finished. Boards require very little maintenance. Handwash only with mild soap and water; towel dry immediately; reapply beeswax to ensure protection against wood staining and prematurely drying out of board. If board becomes dry, re-apply cutting board oil and wax of choice.

Due to natural variability in grain, color, and orientation, your board will be its own unique expression.
